What is your current role, in your own words?

I curate the big ideas that I find exciting in civic life and democracy, and present them in podcast form. I also love to interview everyday citizen changemakers to showcase their engagement and impact.

What types of projects do you typically work on?

Future Hindsight is an interview show whose mission is to inspire civic action. We interview scholars, activists, and everyday citizens to share about their engagement or big ideas in civic life and democracy.

How many years have you been a Signal Awards judge?

This is my first year!

What excited you about joining the Signal Awards Judging Academy?

I love to listen to podcasts and I’m excited to hear all the good work out there! Podcast is a creative art form that should be recognized!

What separates good audio storytelling from great audio storytelling?

Always the writing! and also: pacing, music.

What project are you most proud of and why?

I am proud of creating Future Hindsight from the ground up.

What podcasting trend, challenge, or opportunity has your attention these days?

Working on a new narrative podcast! This is very different than an interview show.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to emerging creators?

Keep working. Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good!
